This little painting is a scene reminding me how much the last snow is like the first snow with a lot of ground showing but in its own special colors. All seasons have their unique beauty and bring me great appreciation for the seasons we enjoy in the western states. The snow portends new activity from snowshoeing to snoboarding to snowmobiling and some of the world's best alpine and cross country skiing. Mother nature provides scenes just as spectacular in winter as in summer and fall and even in the transition periods. There is no poor or mediocre work done by the master painter. All is done to "please the eye, gladden the heart and enliven the spirit"of people.
This will probably be the last of the winter scenes for this season but ahead is the spring and summer with it's new life and color. This spring, however, has been short. I can hardly remember it as summer encroached on it's time with extra warm temperatures. The beauties fade with less water in the streams and lakes and other bodies of water limiting opportunities for painting and much worse, like increased fire danger and increased prices and scarcity for about everthing as a result. It has happened before in this fragile enviroment but it saddens me to see nature damaged and the economic hardships it causes. I hope we can do all we can to help solve the problem. I intend too rather than just complain.
I am beginning some larger paintings of southwest Utah so look for them soon. Should have one or two complete within the next 30 days with some other things on the easel as well.
Keep safe and keep cool in every sense of the word. Lee
