When I paint a landscape or a beautiful animal in its natural habitat, I feel an excitement that brings me peace. I want the viewer of the painting to feel the same sense of beauty and harmony I felt as I composed it. I paint in detail to enhance the natural image and sometimes  add or remove elements I believe will improve the overall composition. 

My subject matter is primarily landscape, horses, cattle and cowboys, and wildlife which I enjoy very much. I travel the western states primarily in Utah. I have enjoyed painting Bison on nearby Antelope Island, going on ranch round-ups where real life  can be experienced, and on artist's rides to gain authentic source material for paintings. As you can see, I am a representational painter who likes to emphasize light, atmosphere and color.
